Aug '09: Let's see ... what can I say about Vinny. He never looked like a baby -- he arrived looking like a miniature
man. He had a full head of hair that required a haircut from the time he came out! But I think I waited a month before
actually cutting it. He was pretty easy going - as long as he had a binky in his mouth, he was a happy camper. Marco
stayed home with him during the day, and then went to work at night when I came home from work. Aunt Lynne would
come over on her lunch hour to play with him and then sometimes took him for sleepovers at her house. So many people
came to play with him and take him places all of the time. When he was about 7 months old we took Oma & Opa on a
trip to Ireland and Holland. He was excellent on the 8.5 hour plane trip. He didn't cry one single time! So many people
walked by saying how good he was - even the stewardesses were amazed.
When Tony came along he was only 11 months old. He was so gentle and tried to help us with him, but mostly just went
around stealing his binkys. Poor Tony never had a binky in his mouth for more than about 5 minutes before he would
snatch it! He would even help by holding his bottle in his mouth for us and feeding him (of course he would sneak some
sips for himself!!)
Right now he's 5 years old (almost 6) and getting ready to start kindergarten in a few weeks. He went to preschool
for 2 years and had the best teacher!! Ms Michelle is so kind and caring and he absolutely loved going to school every
day. She loved him too and can't wait for him to go visit her when he has half-days at kindergarten. Let's see, what
can I say about him and girls. Hmmmm ..... basically, they won't leave him alone! He is quite the player. At 4 & 5 years
old they are jealous of each other and who he talks to more, or whos hand he's holding, etc etc. He just laughs and
tells me that they all love him. But sometimes he tells me that one of them breaks his heart when she says she is not
his friend anymore because he won't marry her! I would have to say that Jenna is his #1. Unfortunately she won't be
going to the same school as him this year - but we will try to keep in touch with her throughout the year. He had so
many play dates this summer with friends from preschool (mostly the girls: Jenna, Riley, Ava, Tristen).
He's overall a very sensitive, loving, imaginative little boy who takes everything to heart and holds on to things that
bother him for months at a time. He played t-ball when he was 3 & 4 and this will be his second year of soccer. He
learned quickly that he likes being a goalie the best because he doesn't have to run a lot! But his absolute love for the
past 6 months has been taking Irish dancing lessons. We watched Lord of the Dance one day on tv and that was it. He
was amazed with 'the soldiers' (the men dancers) and how they danced. From that moment on he started trying to
dance like them and asked to watch it over and over. I asked him if he would like to play t-ball or take Irish dancing
lessons - he jumped and screamed with excitement "Irish dancing Irish dancing"! He started lessons in Feb of '09.
He goes for 1 hour on Monday afternoons and 1 hour on Saturday mornings. He loved it from the first second. We
rarely see him walk anywhere anymore. He dances every minute of every day! He wakes up and dances down the hall
to breakfast. He dances his way back to his room. When we go grocery shopping he dances down the aisles. He
performs in shows that the school does at different events around the city. He loves it! I still have yet to see him
smile while he is performing though. I keep telling him that he has to smile and he responds, "But mom, dancing is a
serious thing, and my brain is telling me that I have to concentrate". And he is not kidding! He takes his dancing very
seriously - but has SO much fun doing it! Until a few weeks ago he has only been dancing in 'soft shoes'. But now he is
taking private hard shoe lessons from one of the older girls. (Of course he loves it because he tells me that she is so
nice and so hot! .... she is absolutely beautiful) His first 2 lessons have been just learning the steps since we don't
have his hard shoes yet (they are basically like tap shoes) - but hopefully we can get them for him by the next lesson.
And that will be it - he will be the happiest child on this planet as soon as he can learn the new dances that let him
'make noise'.
